The singer, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2005, was made an honorary Doctor of Health Sciences by Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, southern England. Wearing a doctoral cap and gown, Minogue told students at Wednesday’s graduation ceremony that being diagnosed with cancer made her “appreciate at first hand the hard work that goes on to support patients through it.” Minogue underwent chemotherapy and surgery before resuming a career that has made her a superstar in Britain and her native Australia. Her well-publicized diagnosis has been credited with encouraging young women to undergo screening — the so-called “Kylie effect.”

The 43-year-old has had roles in over a dozen films, and now she’s reportedly landed a role in ‘Holly Motors,’ a French film directed by Leos Carax. According to the Herald Sun , Minogue was spotted shooting scenes in Paris, wearing a short blonde wig as co-star Juliette Binoche was watching from the sidelines. The movie is said to be about a character who, for 24 hours, experiences the lives of different people, including a murderer, beggar, CEO and more. While the singer is still releasing material based on her ‘Aphrodite’ tour and album, she’s been hard at work in front of the camera, filming the upcoming werewolf drama ‘Jack and Diane,’ in which she reportedly plays a “heavily tattooed lesbian.” Minogue’s ‘Aphrodite: Les Folies’ tour has been rumored to be the singer’s last tour, although she has yet to confirm any of the claims...

Pop princess Kylie Minogue has Tweeted her reaction to X Factor contestant Johnny Robinson's performance of her number one hit 'Can't Get You Outta My Head.' Minogue, wh ose sister Dannii used to be a judge on the reality talent show, tweeted last night "OMG!!!!!!" after Robinson's performance of her 2001 hit. Robinson, in the Overs category, was dressed in a kimono during his Japanese inspired performance, which he revealed in his blog yesterday morning. The performance left the judges divided as Tulisa called Robinson her "cup of tea" but left feeling Take That star Gary Barlow "feeling sad", saying he wanted his mentor Louis Walsh to not "make him a joke" to the rest of the nation. However, when Barlow said he looked like a character out of Aladdin, Robinson saucily said Barlow "could rub his lamp any day." Oooh Johnny! Did you enjoy Johnny's performance? EMI sent over word that Astralwerks Records will release Kylie Minogue's 'Aphrodite - Les Folies', filmed live at London's O2 Arena last April, on CD, DVD, Blu-ray and audio digital download on November 29th. The tour was Kylie's most ambitious and spectacular to date and the DVD footage, filmed over 2 nights, captures the show at its absolute peak. Directed by William Baker and Marcus Viner, all formats also feature an exclusive tour documentary. Kylie Minogue has received an honorary doctorate. The Australian singer wore a traditional cap and gown as she accepted an honorary Doctor of Health Sciences award from Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, Essex, East England, in recognition for her work promoting breast cancer awareness. Kylie who was diagnosed with the disease in 2005 told graduates at the ceremony: "I never went to university so my dad will be very proud when he sees the pictures. "I am here partly for the work I do promoting breast cancer awareness. "When you are diagnosed yourself it becomes a lot more real and you appreciate at first hand the hard work that goes on to support patients through it." The Wow hitmaker who is now entitled to call herself Doctor later took to her twitter page to express her delight at the ceremony.
