Kylie Minogue signs to Roc Nation: What does it mean?

Kylie Minogue joins Roc Nation.
Despite hinting at a break from music following last year's 12-month celebration of a quarter of a century in the biz, Kylie Minogue has seemingly played us all for fools and is gearing up to release a new album this year. Hooray!

Even more surprising is the announcement that she's signed a new deal with Roc Nation. We're not entirely sure what that means, but we're assuming that Jay-Z is in some part her new boss. No, we can't quite get our heads around that either.

But what could this all mean for Kylie's 12th album and, crucially, Kylie herself? We've listed a few things we'd like to see happen during her next campaign.

A proper US album releaseIt remains baffling to this day that Kylie's only successful album in the States is 2001's Fever. She's openly admitted in the past that Americans have struggled to warm to her en masse compared with the rest of the world, but now that all manner of acts are finding success in the US, it's high time she re-established herself out there.

A completely bonkers collaborationTeaming up with another artist can, if done right, prove extremely beneficial. She'd need to be careful to avoid looking like she's desperately clinging on to her youth, but a quick glance over Roc Nation's books - Shakira, MIA Timbaland, Santigold, CALVIN HARRIS - throws up some potentially amazing hook-ups. Mind you, they also look after The Ting Tings.

R&B KylieDon't get us wr! ong, we'll always be here for dance Kylie, but her limited delving into (sort of) R&B hasn't been disastrous and we wouldn't be opposed to it in the future. And by R&B, we mean 'Put Yourself In My Place', 'Word Is Out' and, of course, 'Red Blooded Woman'.

A guest rap from the bossWe're still not sure if this is a good idea or not, but the idea of Jay-Z rearing his head to say a few words on a Kylie song, where he loosely rhymes "Minogue" with "explode", makes us smile in a good way.

A flamboyant and completely over-the-top world tour.Thankfully, Kylie is already pretty experienced when it comes to these.

Of course, this Roc Nation business could mean very little and she'd just continue as she is, which seems to be going pretty well for her as well. But whatever she's up to, we're guessing by the looks of her official website and this news that we'll all be hearing something sooner rather than later.
