Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition featuring pieces worn by Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Dita Von Teese set to land in London

He is one of fashion's most famous faces and now Jean Paul Gaultier's tireless work for the industry is being recognised in an exhibition.

The display, which will honour the French haute couture and pret-a-porter fashion designer, will be held at London's Barbican in April 2014 as part of an international tour.

Gaultier, who served as the creative director of Herms for seven years and has designed for the likes of Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Rihanna, will see a selection of his most iconic pieces showcased.

Madonna's now iconic conical corset that she wore on stage in her 1990 Blonde Ambition tour is one of the showstopping features.

There will also be pieces worn by Kylie Minogue and Dita Von Teese on display.

The exhibition, titled The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From The Sidewalk To The Catwalk, will feature a total of over 140 couture and ready-to-wear pieces from the designer's extensive career.

Speaking about the exhibition, 60-year-old Jean Paul Gaultier said: 'I am super excited that the show is coming to London.

'If there is one place other than Paris that I should like to live in, it is London.

'The English were the first to appreciate my fashion, I've got more connection in London and feelings that I am at home, sometimes more than in Paris.

'It's an honour for me that they asked me, because it is a wonderful museum, which is beautiful architecturally.! '

Not only will the exhibition be home to his designs, it will also include footage of catwalk shows, music videos and films, as well as clips from his late-night television show, Eurotrash.

He added: 'I didn't want the show to be something like a funeral, because for me, to be in a museum, it is for people who are dead, I am still alive!

'I am very lucky because I am living my passion,' he added.
