Kylie Minogue - Stringing Around: Kylie Minogue Hires Orchestra For 25th Anniversary

Apart from her glorious 1994 hit Confide With Me one thing that's always been missing from pop princess Kylie Minogue 's music has been strings. Indeed, we often listen to floor filling classics like Can't Get You Out Of My Head, Spinning Around and, of course, I Should Be So Lucky and pondered just how much more satisfying each song might sound if they had the presence of a hearty but refined string quartet gliding along behind them. Well, we need ponder no more because, according to an announcement on the diminutive star's official website, new release The Abbey Road Sessions will feature the orchestral majesty we've all been waiting so long for.

The release will mark the 25th year of Kylie's pop career and, according to the message "features sixteen tracks, all radically reworked, spanning Kylie's incredible 25 year career. The album was recorded in London's legendary Abbey Road Studios with Kylie's band and a full orchestra." It continues "Nick Cave re-recorded his vocal on the famous duet, "Where The Wild Roses Grow", especially for the album."

A quick look down the tracklisting reveals that I Should Be So Lucky will indeed be getting the string treatment, as will other incongruous fits like Better The Devil You Know, On A Night Like This and The Locomotion. Classy. Kylie is performing with an orchestra this weekend, for anyone wishing to hear a preview of what this is all going to sound like before the album's release on October 29th. She'll be playing at Hyde Park in London on Saturday (September 8th) for Proms In The Park.
