Kylie Minogue says Madonna duet is just a rumour

Kylie Minogue

I am 25 (in pop years)

2012 marks Kylie Minogues 25th year in the world of pop music, which is some achievement when you think One Directions Harry Styles has another eight years of living to equal the same amount Kylies been warbling (look away Caroline Flack).

On New Years Eve Kylie Tweeted: Thank you all for an amazing 2011, Aphrodite's year, and here's to K25 in 2012!!!!

Understandably shes planning to celebrate in various ways, including some gigs and TV specials.

Duets are always a favourite for these types of self congratulatory shows and rumours have been swirling and twirling that stars such as Nick Cave, Robbie Williams and her sister Dannii could join her on stage.

Sisters have got to do it though, surely?

But the one thats got everyone going was talk of a certain relatively famous woman fond of canonical bras and thrustingwho might hook up with Kylie for a little sing song.

Madonna ! was thou ght to be in the running (and shes very good at that after all) to join Kylie during a possible ITV spesh.

Both stars have bigged each other up before and worn T-shirts with the others name on, a totes ironic way.

I'm the Queen!

But Kylie has since taken to Twitter to deny the gossip. When a fan asked: @kylieminogue Is it true that you're planning to duet w/ Madonna ? #MadonnaKylieDuet.

She replied: it's just a rumour, but of course it would be amazing!! maybe one day:) #MadonnaKylieDuet.

Shame. We were kind of hoping for some Queen and Princess of Pop medleys, like Crazy For The Locomotion, or Especially For Hanky Panky or maybe I Just Cant Get You Out of my Virgin.

Yeah, maybe not.
