Local News: Kylie Minogue & Nick Cave together again

Kylie Minogue and Nick Cave have worked together again to re-record their 1995 hit, Where the Wild Roses Grow. The new version is featured on Minogues latest album The Abbey Road Sessions, which was recorded at the iconic London studio thats been used by everyone from The Beatles to, more recently, Lady Gaga and Florence and the Machine.
The Abbey Road Sessions features reworked versions of many of Minogues hit songs recorded with a full orchestra, including Confide In Me, Cant Get You Out of My Head, and The Loco-Motion. The new version of Where the Wild Roses Grow doesnt add any orchestration, however, instead stripping it back to just acoustic guitar, drums, and voice.
The original was the lead single for Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds ninth album Murder Ballads, and their biggest hit. It introduced Cave to a broader audience and also helped make it OK to admit to liking Kylie Minogue in the 1990s when authenticity was king and people could still call themselves alternative with a straight face. Cave has said that he spent six years obsessed with Minogue, writing various songs for her before finally settling on one that he thought would be fitting. He also worked Minogue into! his second novel, The Death of Bunny Munro, in which the lead character fantasises about her and is particularly fascinated by her buttocks.
