An emotional Kylie Minogue received the Silver Clef Award for services to the music industry last night.

The 44-year-old pop princess said of the accolade: "I never would have thought 25 years ago I could have got an award like this and I think that's why I was so emotional up there.

"It's really hard to comprehend and how to express my gratitude."

She later posted a picture of herself at the awards on Twitter - and made reference to her very first pop record, writing: "Today I was so lucky, lucky, LUCKY!!!! Thank you Nordoff Robbins for my Silver Clef Award!!!"

Kylie told the Daily Mail backstage at the awards bash: "I feel like I'm just hitting my stride. I'm lucky enough to still have different opportunities, new challenges."

One of which will be her reunion with Jason Donovan - the pair are due to sing 1988 hit Especially For You at a concert celebrating record label Stock Aitken Waterman next month.

Kylie said she thought the duet would "be a laugh" but confessed: "It will be quite surreal for sure."

Other winners on the night were Jessie J, who took home the Best British Act Award, Emeli Sand, who was awarded the Innovation Award, and Conor Maynard who was voted Best Newcomer.
